Ohio connection will be the voice that advocates for all Family Child Care Home Businesses, families and children across the state.

Family Child Care in Ohio

Certified Type A-Provider provides care for 7 to 12 children.  Provider's children under the age of six and foster care children under the age of fifteen count in her count.  Provider must have an assistant when her capacity reaches 7 or more.  The home is inspected and licensed by the state.

Certified Type B Professional-Provider provides care for up to 6 children.  Provider's children under the age of six and foster care children under the age of fifteen count in the provider's count.  Provider's home is inspected and approved by the county.

Parent/Provider Inspected-Provider provides care for up to six children.  Parent inspects and approves the provider's home.  Provider can only provide service for one family at a time unless the families are related.

Registered-Provider provides care for up to 6 children and is registered with the local resource and referral or food program.

Private Pay-provides care for up to 6 children.  Provider has no regulatory office inspecting their home.
