As providers, it is important that we use our energy and our voices to advocate for our profession.  It is our responsibility to represent ourselves and the families that we provide care for.

It is also important that you involve the parents you provide care for in this process.  Help them to understand the importance of using their voice to fight for funding and the services that they need.

It takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes the voices of a village to insure that the funding and other resources needed to take care of that child is available.

How Can You Be An Advocate

• Write letters to your local, state, and national representatives about issues that concern you
• Make calls to your representatives
• Start phone chains to keep others informed
• Place important information on your social media pages
• Network with other providers and parents 
• Attend local association meetings
• Get involved with local, state, and national organizations
